This is an exciting time to be in the market for a full-size pickup truck because the 2022 Toyota Tundra has been completely redesigned and ushers in its third generation. The new Tundra now available at Diehl Toyota of Hermitage features updates to its powertrain, transmission, steering, suspension, frame and more. It also boasts a fresh exterior style, and in addition to six distinct trim levels and more standard equipment than ever before, Toyota offers many additional ways to customize your Tundra.
Our Toyota dealership in Hermitage Pennsylvania offers two cab options: double and crew, which Toyota nicknames its CrewMax. We also offer three bed lengths: 5.5, 6.5 and 8.1 feet. Both extended cabs have four doors, but the crew has full-size doors whereas the double has half-size forward-facing rear doors. The crew cab can be paired with either the 5.5- or 6.5-foot bed. The double cab can be paired with either the 6.5- or 8.1-foot bed. Depending on your cab and bed choice, the wheelbase ranges from 145.7 to 164.6 inches, and the overall length ranges from 228.9 to 247.8 inches. Perhaps the most notable change for the new model is that Toyota has upgraded the bed to a composite material. That means that you no longer need a bedliner in order to protect it.
The 2022 Toyota Tundra in Hermitage is available with either a double or crew cab. Both cabs have front bucket seats. The double cab can seat up to four, and the crew cab can seat up to five. Spaciousness is similar to the previous generation. Headroom has been improved to about 41 inches, which is reduced to about 39 inches if you opt for the panoramic sunroof. Front legroom is more than 41 inches. Rear legroom in the crew cab is also more than 41 inches, and rear legroom in the double cab is more than 33 inches. Big changes have been made to the interior design as well. Drivers in Hermitage Pennsylvania will appreciate the improved material quality. The infotainment system feels modern and well thought out, and there are now compartments everywhere, including some rather clever ones.
As mentioned in the introduction, a lot has changed when it comes to the mechanical nature of the 2022 Toyota Tundra. What has not changed is that you have the choice of either rear-wheel or four-wheel drive. What has changed is that the suspension has been completely redesigned in order to deliver a much more comfortable ride. The steering has been upgraded to improve handling, and the frame has been upgraded so that the Tundra can tow and haul more than ever before.
One of the biggest changes for the 2022 Toyota Tundra in Hermitage is that Toyota has eliminated the V8. Much has changed in the world of engines since the previous V8 was introduced more than a decade ago. Toyota now offers two V6 options, which are both powerful but also more fuel efficient. The standard option is a 3.5L twin-turbo V6 that makes 389 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque. You also have the option of the i-Force Max, which is a hybrid version of that engine that makes 437 hp and 583 lb.-ft. In either case, the powertrain features a 10-speed automatic transmission. Max payload capacity has been increased from 1,730 to 1,940 pounds. Max tow rating has been increased from 10,100 pounds to 12,000 pounds with the standard V6 or 11,500 pounds with the hybrid.
All models come with Toyota’s latest infotainment software with features like voice recognition and Apple and Android device integration. The base model has a 4.1-inch driver information display and an 8-inch color HD touchscreen. You also have the option of a fully digital 12.3-inch DID and a 14-inch touchscreen. In addition, most of the driver-assistance tech available for the Tundra is included standard, such as adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking and lane keep assist.
The Tundra has always been an exciting option because it does not conform to the design popular with the American automakers. The 2022 Toyota Tundra is an even more compelling options for drivers in Hermitage Pennsylvania due to all of the improvements that have been made, and these upgrades are even more impressive when you experience them in person.
